IRS audit representation is a CPA service where Greg Monaco acts as your authorized representative before the IRS and NJ Division of Taxation. Services include correspondence audit responses, CP2000 letter replies, field and office exam representation, and IRS notice resolution for NJ taxpayers.

Receiving an IRS notice or audit letter is stressful - but it doesn't have to be. As a licensed CPA authorized to practice before the IRS under Treasury Circular 230, Greg Monaco handles IRS correspondence, audits, and disputes on your behalf.

Most IRS contacts are correspondence audits or automated notices that can be resolved with a clear, well-documented response. Some require more complex representation. Either way, you won't face the IRS alone.

Monaco CPA provides IRS notice support as a standard inclusion with all tax preparation engagements. For standalone audit representation for returns prepared elsewhere, separate engagements are available.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do when I receive an IRS notice?
Don't ignore it. IRS notices have response deadlines, and missing them can make things worse. Contact me right away - I'll review it and explain exactly what it means and what to do next.
What is a CP2000 letter?
A CP2000 is an automated IRS notice proposing additional tax because income reported on your return doesn't match what was reported to the IRS by third parties (W-2s, 1099s, etc.). It's not a bill yet - it requires a response. I review the discrepancy, dispute errors, and respond on your behalf.
What is the difference between a correspondence audit and a field audit?
A correspondence audit is conducted entirely by mail - the IRS requests specific documents to verify certain items on your return. A field audit involves an IRS agent visiting your home or business. Both require prompt, accurate responses, and I represent you in either case.
Can you help with penalties from late filing or late payment?
Yes. I can request penalty abatement under the IRS first-time abate policy or based on reasonable cause. Many taxpayers qualify for significant penalty relief - it just requires knowing how to ask.
If you need a CPA or accountant in Livingston or Essex County, I highly recommend Greg at Monaco CPA. He always gets back to me the same day, handles everything himself, and offers flexible virtual meetings. Greg managed our personal taxes with great attention to detail and identified deductions we had previously overlooked.
