Crypto Tax CPA Cost: Services & Pricing
Transparent pricing based on your needs. Every engagement begins with a free discovery call.
My Pricing Approach
Every client's situation is different. A crypto investor with one Coinbase account has very different needs than an active DeFi trader—and both differ from a small business needing monthly bookkeeping.
That's why I provide custom quotes after understanding your specific situation. This ensures you pay for what you actually need—nothing more, nothing less.
Every engagement starts with a free discovery call where I assess your situation and provide a clear fee estimate before any work begins.

What Determines Pricing
Crypto tax work ranges from straightforward (single exchange, clean history) to highly complex (multiple exchanges, self-custody wallets, DeFi, NFTs, missing cost basis, prior-year gaps). Because accuracy depends on reconciliation, I price engagements based on scope.
Factors That Affect Cost
-
Transaction volume: Number of trades, transfers, and on-chain events
-
Number of platforms: Exchanges, wallets, chains
-
Data quality: Complete exports vs. missing basis/duplicates
-
Complex activity: DeFi liquidity pools, lending, wrapping, NFT mints/royalties
-
Prior-year cleanup: Amended returns, carryovers, unresolved notices
-
Business use: Schedule C bookkeeping, mining operations, payroll
-
Form 1099-DA reconciliation: Complexity of matching broker reports to actual basis
How Pricing Works
-
Free Discovery Call: I discuss your situation, needs, and goals
-
Assessment: I review any relevant information to understand complexity
-
Quote: I provide a clear, written fee estimate before any work begins
-
Engagement: If you proceed, I formalize the scope and begin work
-
No Surprises: If scope changes significantly, I discuss before proceeding
For recurring services (monthly bookkeeping, fractional CFO), I offer predictable monthly pricing. For project work (tax returns, IRS response), I quote fixed fees upfront.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does cryptocurrency tax preparation cost?
Fees depend on your specific situation—transaction volume, number of platforms, DeFi activity, and record quality. After a short discovery call, I provide a written quote aligned to your scope. Contact me for a personalized estimate.
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes. Every engagement begins with a free 15-30 minute discovery call to assess your needs and provide a fee estimate—no obligation.
Do you work with clients outside New Jersey?
Yes. While based in Livingston, NJ, I serve clients nationwide through my virtual practice. I prepare federal returns for all clients and state returns for most states.
What if I have Form 1099-DA but the cost basis is wrong or missing?
This is expected for 2025 transactions. Brokers began reporting gross proceeds but cost basis reporting doesn't start until 2026 transactions. I reconcile your actual records with the 1099-DA and document differences to ensure you pay tax only on actual gains.
Do you offer monthly bookkeeping packages?
Yes. Monthly bookkeeping packages are tailored to your business size and transaction volume, with predictable monthly pricing.
What payment methods do you accept?
I accept credit/debit cards, ACH transfers, and checks. Payment terms are discussed during engagement.
What if my situation is more complex than initially thought?
If I discover significant additional complexity (for example, additional wallets or years of missing records), I'll discuss it with you before proceeding. No surprise bills.
