I run a virtual tax practice that focuses on emerging and specialty tax areas most firms don't touch. I'm hiring one accounting student for a paid summer internship. You'll work directly with me on real client engagements - not training videos, not a bullpen, not busywork.

The specialty work is what makes this firm different. If any of this sounds interesting, you're already ahead of most applicants.

Small Business Accounting & Tax
Bookkeeping, entity structure, compliance, and tax planning for small businesses across a range of industries.
Individual Tax
Traditional 1040 preparation, NJ state tax, and multi-state filing.

What you'll do
- Support real client engagements across individual tax, small business accounting and compliance, and specialty tax areas.
- Review documents and workpapers for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with tax research.
- Help prepare client communications that I review before they go out.
- Contribute to various firm projects as they arise.
By August, you'll have exposure to tax topics that most staff accountants with five years of experience haven't seen.
Who I'm Looking For
Required
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate accounting program. Rising juniors ideal; rising seniors welcome.
- Completed or currently enrolled in individual income tax and intermediate accounting.
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working independently.
- Proficient with Excel and able to learn new software quickly.
- Self-directed work habits with structured tasks, clear deadlines, and regular check-ins.
- Located in the US and authorized to work in the US.
- Willing to undergo a background check.
Preferred (Not Required)
- Naturally curious with a genuine interest in learning. The specific topic matters less than the instinct.
- Interest or familiarity with digital assets, fintech, or emerging financial platforms.
- Comfortable with new technology. Bonus if you've explored AI tools, done any coding, or enjoy figuring out how things work.
- Advanced Excel skills: VLOOKUP, PivotTables, conditional formatting.
What I Offer
This is not a typical internship. Here's what makes this role different.
Real Work, Not Busywork
You'll handle actual client documents, review actual workpapers, and see actual tax returns being prepared and filed.
Direct 1-on-1 Mentorship
You work with me directly. You'll understand why decisions are made, not just what they are.
Specialty Exposure
You'll gain experience in tax areas that are in high demand and hard to find training in - through real client work, not textbooks.
A Strong Reference
If you perform well, you'll get a specific reference letter from a licensed CPA who can speak to your actual work on real engagements.
Flexibility
Virtual work. Flexible daily scheduling. No commute. No dress code. Your output matters, not your hours.
How to Apply
Apply through LinkedIn or email. I review every application personally.
If applying by email, include:
- 1Your resume (include relevant coursework, GPA if above 3.0)
- 2A brief note: what year you are, why this role, and one relevant thing about your background
- 3Your availability (start date and end date before fall semester)
Subject line: "Summer 2026 Tax Internship." I'd rather read something genuine than something polished. Applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
